1. Acceptance of Terms
Your access to and use of Russian Reading (the "Service") is governed by these Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with these terms. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Operator Identity
Russian Reading operates this website and is responsible for the Service provided under these Terms of Service.
3. Description of Service
Russian Reading is an educational platform providing adapted Russian stories with audio for Russian language learners. The Service includes:
- Access to a library of adapted Russian stories
- Audio accompaniment for each story
- Reading progress, explicit reading marks and saved stories, optional Study practice, reading paths and collections, Saved language for words, phrases and sentences, deliberate sessions, revisit reminders, private activity summaries and accessible text exports. These tools describe activity and self-reported experience; they do not certify language proficiency or learning outcomes. Signed-in learning records are synchronized to Cloudflare D1; bookmarks and browser preferences retain local device continuity.

4. User Account
To use certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information when registering
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Monthly, Annual and Permanent Access include all current and future stories and features. Monthly and annual access lasts while your membership is active, including the remainder of a paid period after cancellation. Permanent Access is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge and continues while RussianReading operates. Where checkout is labelled as sandbox, it records test access and does not collect a real payment.
Checkout is currently a sandbox preview; no real payment is taken. All current and future stories and features are included with every Premium plan.
Certain features of the Service are available via subscription. Payments are processed through Polar. The following terms apply:
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account or by contacting us
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
Due to the digital nature of the service, subscriptions are generally non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law. If you experience a billing issue or accidental charge, contact support and we will review it and do our best to assist you.
We may change subscription pricing from time to time. Existing subscribers will be notified before any pricing changes take effect.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Copy, distribute, or reproduce content without permission
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Interfere with the operation of the Service or servers
- Access the Service by unauthorized means
- Create multiple accounts to abuse free trial periods
7. Intellectual Property
Content in the Service, including text, audio, graphics, and logos, belongs to Russian Reading or its licensors. Unless a separate licence is stated for particular material, you may not use, copy, or distribute it without our prior written consent. Separate open licences and your rights under them remain applicable.
Authorized Anki audio exports are durable personal copies under the narration's commercial licence. They may be kept for your own study; this does not permit redistribution. Ending membership cannot retract files already downloaded. Audio downloads remain unavailable until the source clips and Anki import path have been qualified.
The pronunciation annotations (stress marks) are shared under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. This licence covers the annotations only, separately from story text, explanations and recordings. They are checked with OpenRussian and Wiktionary, alongside dictionaries on Gramota and the Russian Language Institute. Download the pronunciation word list (JSON).
8. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service.
10. Service Availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Russian Reading shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to lost profits, data loss, or other intangible losses resulting from the use or inability to use the Service.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes become effective immediately upon posting to this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or otherwise create legal or operational risks for the Service.
14. Account Deletion
You can start self-service account deletion from your Account page after confirming this action with your current password or a code sent to your verified account email. The workflow removes your profile, synchronized progress, reading marks, saved favorites, phrase references and review timing, cancels renewable billing when supported, and removes the authentication identity. If self-service deletion is unavailable, contact support. Certain information may be retained or anonymized where required by law, including billing, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or security records.
15. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of European Union. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of European Union.
